Fixing heart disease fast.

Thanks for visiting.

How to fix heart disease fast?
An answer might be:

Maybe the answer is starring us in the face.
There are a couple of things that stand out with regard heart disease. The first is that it kills more people than any other ailment. It kills many more people than cancer every year. Second: This means that either the advice we are getting from the governments or food companies marketing their wears is wrong or we ourselves are missing something starring at us in the face. I prefer the later. I had the beginnings of heart disease 10 years ago. So I started reading. I found the answer. It is here amongst these pages spread throughout this web site. So keep reading. You can email me any particular questions you may have and I will do my best to get back to you over night in one form or another.

As young as 19 with the beginnings of heart disease.
We were sold the idea that carbs were safe and that fat was bad. This has been the mantra for more then 50 years. But it may of been wrong, according to There are lots of books and articles out now saying this too for example the Here are two studies I came across recently saying that doctors got a bunch of dead young GI's (solders) back from war including the Vietnam 1968-78, Iraq 2001-11 and was allowed to perform autopsies, but to the docs surprise, the doc discovered that of these GI's in their late teens and early twenties a already had the beginnings of heart disease. (furring up of the arteries). This was not due to their lack of exercise or them being old or their poor diet or them being overweight, but the doc concluded that this heart disease must have been something else. The doc was right about that. It has taken many years to figure this out, but if the GI's had been raised on a high fat diet like the keto diet, like many others have since the 1920's due their personal tragedy of having epileptic fits, then like them you would have clear arteries. Incidentally those keto dieters of the 1920s, after they died had there brains looked at and they had crystal clear amyloid plaque free brains (no Alzheimers), according to

Do not take away my bread!
Now this was a bit of a shock because as some people already know an epilectic fit leave behind terrible damage to the brain, a little bit like and concussion. So their brains should show lot's of damage. For our purposes all we need to know is that they were carb free and did not have amyloid plaques or any signs of heart disease! that fur up arteries are wheat, rice and potato. One cup of any of these starches is the equivalent of about 17 cups of vegetables. Eg spring greens, broccoli, celery, pak choi, spinach, beans, cauliflower, onion, all mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, just take the pips out, cabbage, cucumber, and lots more. Just as a side, we hear that veg is not high in protein sometimes, but a kilo of broccoli contains 30g protein and only 45g of carbs/starch. So roast your carrots, swedes and sweet peppers and turnips and pile your plate up high and poor loads of olive oil and balsamic vinegar add as much iodised sea salt as you want and fill your boots. It's almost worth getting to like olive oil since it is so good for us. More on this later. So avoiding carbs is the first step. Read on if you would like to become healthy really quickly. Because heart disease took years to happen and it will take years to reverse, but would you rather 2 to 4 years or 10 to 15?

Why do I need to be in keto? I hear you asking?
Well being in ketosis starts what's called the production of therapeutic ketones and these are produced by the liver. These then circulate around the bloodstream and act as sugar therefore replacing carbohydrates. It has been said by an expert in the field "that if you show ketones for two years then you'll have arrested heart disease". The keto diet also provides a measure in the form of ketones to gauge how well you are doing. It's not a diet where you spend six months and go back for a checkup and find it's not working or that you have not been doing it properly. With Keto you either produce ketones or not. And if you find you are having difficulty producing ketones then we can get to the root of the problem almost right away. This therefore gives you immediate feedback.

But my body craves it?
One of the positive side effects of having produced ketones for a number of weeks, is that you would have simultaneously got off sugar and carbs and starches (same thing), and you would have got used to eating healthy fats, (olive oil, coconut fat, almond oil, walnut oil, and avocado oil), and will have converted your metabolism from using sugars to using fats as fuel, which means that since we all have plenty of fat stores built up over the years, that we will never be caught short without food and suffer that energy crash that seems to nearly always accompany carb diets. This has the positive side effect of burning all that excess fat we carry around with us all day, and if we are not interested in losing any weight then we just eat more. However the important distinction here is that it is our choice, not our addictions choice!

Addicted to what?
However if addiction is the problem like it was with me, and you are finding your cravings for sugar a bit difficult to curb, then listen up. I've read 11 books on addiction and the road can be a long drawn out step by step decrease in carbs. That is slowly swapping out one carb choice for one less high on the glucose index chart and keep doing this until you're practically carb free (30 - 50g) a day. Or like a friend recently said, "I just cut out all carbs sweeteners, sugar dairy milk chocolate, crisps everything!, and two weeks later I was off them! All I eat now are veggies and meat oh and the occasional shot of alcohol for fun.". So both options work. Some advice when dealing with triggers,(those horrible encounters that make you want carbs or sugar), and mood swings is to consider what When he said if a thought pops into your head saying "that now would be a good time to eat carbs'', he said just remember that that is your subconscious trying to satisfy what it thinks is your goal. Especially since you were probably eating carbs for many years, it is not surprising it would do that. So when it arrives he just says to himself, "this is from the old me in the past that eats carbs. This is the new me now. I don't eat carbs. So this thought is out of time. Next Lewis David said that cravings are like waves, they always crash on the shore no matter how big they are. And the frequency between waves ebbs and flows until they become completely calm seas. The next piece of advice is from where he says that "One day he was walking down the Kings road, happily married and his daughter of 3 years old. When suddenly he saw and spotted a beautiful long legged blond or brunette, I don't remember, crossing the street and he was catapulted for a brief moment into another world, where he forgot that he was married and had a child and was happy. And he said I had 1 - 3 seconds to bring it back, or my emotions would take over and who knows what would happen. So he said, it is his job to keep control and not allow the thought to persist." Luckily for us it is just carbs or some alcohol if we are not alcoholics, but for Russell Brand I believe him when he says it is a real big deal.

And then you will pass right out there on the floor.
The next thing to do is start decreasing the window in which you eat. This is incredibly useful for combating addiction. Because if you don't eat and you are in a frame of mind of not eating, then quite amazingly no food can be easier than only a tiny bit of food, and no food means no carbs. If you have never tried not eating try and be a little cautious. This is because it is possible to accidently pass out! Literally pass out. This can happen when your body and brain are both hopelessly dependent on sugar for fuel. If you cut off their supply of energy this could cause your body and brain to use up their last means of energy very quickly and that is sugar in the blood stream. Our blood can hold about 5g of sugar at any one time. Most kinds of stress including physical, emotional, mental or even the fight or flight hormones like cortisol or epinephrine can quickly drain that small amount of energy in your blood stream and than your brain will simply pull the plug and you will pass out. You will make a rapid recovery straight after, and as long as you have not hurt yourself you will back to feeling your normal self in no time at all. However, there is a way through this problem of potentially passing out.

How do I stop passing out or fainting?
To help with not passing out in the early days of trying to extend your fast keep the fast short for a long time and replace your breakfast with any and all healthy fats. Olive oil is probably best, followed closely by coconut fat. Also you could opt for something like bullet proof coffee, which is coffee and fat blended together to give an infused energy boost, which incidentally will promote the burning of your own bodies fat stores, like priming the pump. For extending the fasting window when you are ready you could consider eating breakfast later. If you had breakfast at 7am and your last meal is at 9pm that's an eating window of 14 hours. However, if your first meal is at 10am and your last meal is one hour earlier say 8pm that's an eating window of 10 hours. Keep doing this slowly but only after you have been producing ketones for at least 4 weeks and in some cases you'll need to be producing ketones for 8 weeks so you choose when to begin reducing your eating window, but a word of warning, according to Dr Bozworth in her excellent book She offered the carb free fasting option, and of all her patients that took her up on the offer before they had produced ketones failed! All of them struggled to get enough energy without eating any carbohydrates. So go slowly, keeping the fasting window as small as necessary in the beginning until you begin to feel confident that you will not faint or have too little energy. None succeeded! when they tried to rush things. None! With time it is possible to get down to one meal a day and this will feel absolutely be fine, and when you get to doing it you won't feel hungry or feel like you are missing out, you will just start to feel healthier then you have felt in years.

What contradiction?
Here is another reason to go steady. Jordan Petterson has gone on record to say the breakfast is the most important meal of the day. He is not wrong. The reason he is saying this is because in his experience people that have a steady supply of energy to the brain do much better than people that do not have a steady supply of energy to the brain. This is also true. He also recommends the breakfast be high in healthy fats and some protein and very little carbohydrates. This is also perfect! So how can I reconcile this seeming contradiction? The answer is that let us fix one thing at a time. Brain health is the ultimate focuss of the body apart from reproduction. Our arms, legs, senses are ultimately serving their master, which ofcourse is the brain. When we eat food some 33% of the energy consumed from it is used up by the brain. This is dispite the brain only weighing 2% of our body weight. To get the brain all its needs is of primary concern. However, if our bodies and the structure of the brain are collapsing under the pressure of a diseased state, than the body is beginning to fail in its job.

How to look after the brain and fix the body at the same time?
This is a delicate period of time. Not eating deprives the brain of energy and also nutrition. How do we look after the brain whilst simultaneously fixing the body of its accumalated diseases? The answer is cautiously! Fasting is not the first step in this process. Eating lower and lower carbohydrate meals over a reasonable period of time and increasing healthy fats will slowly convert more and more of your mitochondria into being able to burn fat as fuel. Ultimately following a high healthy fat diet with resistant starches and vegtables will acheive wonders over time.

Why do this intermittent fasting thing as well as keto? Good question!
Keto and no carbs will indeed do a lot to stop the damage being done, but it does little to accelerate the repair process. It will promote health but will not accelerate it. For example I had an injury to my finger and it was diagnosed as a trigger finger by myself. I could not open my finger past a certain point and if I did manage to extend my finger and get it past that certain point it would hurt a lot, this was due to the sheath in and around my ligament, which was shrinking and getting tighter. I didn't like it and it was painful and it seemed to only get worse despite being in keto. Even where my ligament joined in my hand at the base of my thumb was starting to ache. However, the moment I introduced intermittent fasting as proposed I felt an improvement. Within 3 weeks the finger and the ligament were back to normal. No pain. Whist I had the injury I was beginning to think I may have to quit work and sport except running, it did get me really worried. Now this process of accelerated healing has its basis in science too. The advantage of reducing your eating window, although remember you don't need to reduce your calories in that window, you eat the same calories, just in a shorter space of time, is that your body is given a chance to not only rest the digestive system, which can only be a good thing, but also it causes your body to go into what is called autophagy. This is a process by which the human body after a period of time decides to start recycling some of its old cells and reuse the material recycled, since you haven't eaten for a while. The good brought about by this recycling should not be underestimated. This process has now been linked to help solve a whole host of health related problems. The man responsible is Yoshinori Ohsumi is a Japanese cell biologist specializing in autophagy. This recycling will take all those free radicals floating around your body and mop them up too. This is really good because it was shown that free radicals which are damaged cells with an electron missing are looking to bond with something and cause problems in the body, this is known as cellular waste, and autophagy is a cellular waste collection process.

What is wrong with raisins?
When I was trying to produce ketones I found it incredibly difficult. I was hit with frightful feelings of uncomfortableness that made me lose control of what I was about to eat next. How is it possible to combat such frantic excitement about carbs? Well if you are at this junction and you are starting to feel like this is getting difficult to cut out sugar and carbs, then I completely understand. I think if at this stage of craving carbs you are beginning to crumble, then eat some carbohydrates, hopefully eat the best carbohydrates you can find not the worst and plan for it to be difficult, by preparing healthy carbs, because it most likely will be. The worst carbohydrate is bread, because it contains SO2 (sulphur dioxide) and sugar and WGA (Wheat Germ Agglutinin), next worst is probably beer and so on. You can write your own worst list of foods currently being eaten. Then write the list of the alternatives. For example if you chose dark chocolate as a good option, you can than choose how much or little cacao is in it, thus improving yourself still further over time. Next might be fruit as the sugary option, most manufactured items can be put into the category of bad and most natural home cooked options can be put into the good category. A healthy protein bar might be better than chocolate raisins, because less sugar is best and so on.

What is wrong with wheat?
As you cut down on manufactured goods you may feel further withdrawal. These withdrawal feelings can be split into two groups. The first withdrawal might indeed be from the lack of sugars in your food, but there is another kind of withdrawal, and this is a withdrawal from the preservatives like SO2 (sulphur dioxide) this is not exactly scientific at the moment. However, I felt that this might be true, from my own experience. This second type of chemical withdrawal I feel is the most difficult to deal with. When feelings of being in a frightful state hit, my advice is eat some small amount of what is bad and perhaps processed to help you through the withdrawal. Make sure when attempting to cut back on carbs that you immediately replace the carbs with fat, but more important than that be sure to consume some fat or a small keto portion of food about 30 mins before your normal eating time. Or even just eat a little fat and a small keto meal regularly, as carbs start to drop. As the sugar from carbs drops, because you are eating less of them, your desire for them and their chemicals will steadily increase. Separating out what is an energy crisis from a chemical crisis is not easy. So put the processed foods in a different pile to the natural products. And if after eating lots of natural stuff you still feel crazy and you are full up from eating so much, you can probably make a safe bet that it is chemicals that are making you crazy what you mistake is a craving for just carbs might be infact a craving for the chemicals in the carbs. I would suggest the first time the craziness hits and you are already full, eat a measured small amount of the processed foods, and next time eat less, until you have weaned yourself off the processed foods. Next is natural carbs. But you'll find that now you have separated out the chemicals, that this process of combating real carbs has just become a little easier. All chemical based foods include foods manufactured in a factory. So in a way that includes bread, but we all know that some breads are better than others, so go with the better choice breads to begin with and finally you will end up with some wheat thing that you made at home for example your own bread and then maybe you will make an onion and potato fritter with some wheat added for texture and chemical balancing. Then eventually wheat free fritters and so on.
