My mental and physical health after the age of 50 years of age?.

Hello and welcome to health after 50

Mental and physical health after 50.

Declined health

Being over 50 years of age and meeting people on a regular basis who ask how old you are is interesting. i am not sure why they are asking. It occured to me that when I ask it is often because I feel I am sure what might be the answer. This is a new thing because 10 years before this did not happen to me very much. Ten years ago I was not doing too well at all. I was struggling with my memory, addictions, tiredness, weight gain, bad back, failing eyesight, pains all over my body, and needing a nap most afternoons and struggling with doing my work, and a diagnosis from the doctor I had the beginings of heart disease!

To home cook or to not home cook

I could see the end of what health I had left fast approaching. I was lucky that I had a small joinery business where I could control some aspects of my working week. So I dedicated more and more of my time to researching the root of my demise. I did the usual tentative investigations into supplements, then amino acids, then herbs, then smoothies, then finally making home cooking almost 90% of all the food I eat. This last change set the scene in helping me avoid some of the addictive additives that can sometimes be found in most processed foods. This therefore set the scene for the slowing down of my decline.

Books books and more books

Not much else changed for a while until I stumbled across a book called I followed the advice in the book and on one glorious day I had a great day! I felt temporarily young and healthy. This begun a quest to have a good or great day every day. This goal proved more difficult to achieve than I ever imagined. Over 60 books later and over 150 long youtube videos, over 45 mins long, often infact 2 hours long. Well at least they felt that long sometimes. Along with lots of practice, not only did I achieve good or great health everyday, but my brain turned on too. I once read in her book that Dr Boz said that This was intriguing to me because, I had always thought that brain power was a gift. So I modified my goal to include having enough mental and physical health to write about my experience. This 40,000 word website is the result.

I welcome you to read what helped me

I genuinely would like to welcome you along to have the same experience. Please read and find all that I did to change my physical and mental health amonst all these pages. If you would like a short cut to something, like an answer to a very particular question, just drop me a text or whatsapp or email or fill out the online form and I will locate the section that deals with that enquiry and send you a link to that page and paragraph.

Is what I am doing too much

One question in a lot of my discussions face to face are of type you would expect. Is all this really necessary They also think, like I did, that people are just the way they are, and no intervention is possible anyway! However, as I explain my health was worse than theirs 8 or 10 years ago they begin to see something. I am not always sure what they see, but questions begin along the lines of: So what do you take or eat or do? I think these questions are fair because we are all evaluating the cost? I actually whole heartedly agree with this. Why do more than you absolutely have to. So a steady steady approach is what I recommend. Start with one change and see if it makes any kind of difference to your health in any way.

What one thing should I do first

If you are going to give it a go. Start with the one thing that is most likely to produce a positive result. And that is always start with 3g to 6g of vitamin c a day. So that takes care of most of the physical and some of the mental. Vitamin C is a cofactor. What this means is that it is necessary for a lot of over things to happen. For example water is a cofactor for tea, coffee, milk, beer, land animals, sea life etc. Infact I am not sure if there is a cofactor with any more ubiquitous. Vitamin C is one of the big ones that we seem to get the least of. Next is always b vitamins, because these are what the brain needs. This is where things get very interesting. The brain is affected by sugar, protein, particular concentrations of amino acids, gut flora, exercise, healthy fats, oxygen, rest, sleep, hormones, thyroid, stress, the endocrine system, the nervous system, healthy thinking habits and many more things. This process of turning the brain back on like it was once before, maybe as a kid or a young adult, where at some point in the past you will have felt alive mentally and physically. You can get it back. I promise. If I can anyone can. The reason I am so confident, is that I am damaged goods first I was six weeks premature just like Einstein and Churchill but also I had meningitis in my first year of life and I went down to just two pounds in weight. I have scars on my legs where antibiotics were pumped into my little body. I was also told that the pressure in my head was so great that the skull skin was bulging out through the not fully formed skull bones in the middle of my head. There are some much more remarkable stories out there then mine too. Well at least from this day forward you are going to start feeling a lot better. If!

It is never too late

I feel I have always been trying to keep up or catch up all my life until this last couple of years. It is not surprising. But what is really good news for the rest of us, is that it was long ago thought, and is still thought by many, that if you do not catch intellectual problems at school in those early years than it becomes too difficult after. It is even thought that if you have not caught behavioral problems by the time a child is four than those problems also continue to plague the person for the rest of their lives. My research and subsequent experiments on my self say it is never too late.
